About My (Research and/or Academic) Interests
Research / Academic Interest List
- Mental Health
- It can be such an underlooked yet important topic.
- It's a topic that can resonate with everyone.
- I find tracing the origins and possible causes of good/poor mental health to be facinating.
- Culture
- Each culture has their have their own richness, history, traditions, values, etc.
- It can shape a lot about a person's identity and how they view the world. Mental health is included in this.
- This uniqueness that each one has can make them interesting to compare with each other.
- Factors of why Culture can be an impact in someone's mental health.
- Economic sucsess, if a country is rich or poor. Typyically on average the more wealthy a country is the happier the populous is in general, but this isn't always the case. Lots of poorer countries thrive since they tend to have a stronger community. This might have to do with lack of acsess of what we see as luxuries like the electricty or the internet (a huge social divider).
- Demographics is another factor. How many people of various ages living in place can matter a lot. A healthy balance is that there are more younger people than to old people. Which leads to more happiness.
- Taboos. It can be more frowned upon to say that your not feeling well in certain cultures. Even though Finland is usually at the top of world happiness charts there is a stigma about telling the truth about how you feel which can explain it s high ranking.
